John,
I think I recall some references in the past that would state that what you see above is a problem (the 2 blocked processes in the "b" column). However we are not suffering any type of obvious problems that I am aware of. Is there a way to determine what these processes are?

Surprisingly, vmstat provides some idea of OS Waits - look under the 'procs - r b w' columns (running, blocked, swapped).
