I'm not Robert, but the newby book he recommended to me is Oracle Backup & Recovery 101 by Smith and Haisley. About half of it is devoted to RMAN. Would have saved me a lot of time when I started, but it hadn't been published then.

Wondering if you would mind posting some of the best resources for RMAN that you have found besides the documentation. I have a request from someone who is a newbie to track down some info, I would recommend your book if it was out yet :)
