possible reason could be that the table is having locks or there is a
deadlock....

1 - I did not get any error message. 2 - I do not have an index named index_1 in the USER1 schema. 3 - Oracle stops means oracle crashes without an error. It gets stuck.It waits forever and no other user(s) may connect to it. 4 - Oracle version Oracle 8i
I will try MR. Danisment Gazi Unal suggestions. I hope and wish I will succeed...
