As a CYA move we actually do a once a month cold level 0 UFSDUMP backups.
Why do we do such a "rediculous" activity?
We did it so we could take this set of tapes to any site running
Solaris & have a decent chance to successfully restore of DB.
Otherwise we'd require a site which is running a close enough version
of Legato to restore from the more frequent backup tapes managed by
Legato. I'll acknowledge that this approach is not perfect, but when
you don't have a honest Disaster Recovery site; you do the best you can.
