Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re:install and licensing of Oracle
Peter,
I'm assuming that AIX415 and AIX433 are different versions of AIX. Normally there is a 'version' of Oracle peculiar to the version of the OS your using so you may not have a choice on upgrading Oracle. Now if you want to keep your 415 version as a backup to the production server you've got basically two choices. 1) standby database or 2) copy from 433 to 415 when all hell breaks loose & recover the database. Option 2 could take several hours and may not be viable, especially if you can't get at the disk drives. In any case you'll need a license for both machines no matter what.
