mere commit is not enough to release the lock on a table

Yeah that will do. But you need to wait as Oracle will Rollback the changed data and then rel the lock.

I want to remove lock on a Table by using this command:

Alter system kill session '&sid,&serial'

Is this enough or I have to do something else!
