Message logging in stored procedures

Hello,

Finally moving from Oracle 7 to 8 or 9 (probably 9).

We currently use DBMS_PIPE and a scheduled job to empty the pipe and store the messages.
Works fine in our application but I need to eventually make some improvements.

Are there any new features in the newer Oracles to support this requirement?
