Used CBO with Oracle Apps 11.0.3 / 8.1.7

Oracle Applications 11.0.3 specifies that OPTIMIZER_MODE be set to RULE.

Apps R11 was originally developed against 8.0.x (8.0.4).

Has anyone changed the OPTIMIZER_MODE
to CHOOSE after upgrading the database to 8.1.7 ?
