Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: so when did you switch from NT to unix for oracle
Number of users. I have a 170G Oracle 8.1.6 database running on WinNT 4.0 with 3xx of RAM just fine, as long as there are no more than 2 users. Jump up to about 16 users and response time goes down the tube.
So I guess that transactions are the answer. I don't have any benchmarks. Just my $.02.

A question has been posed to me, when to switch from NT to unix for oracle.
Is it when the NT box starts getting out of memory issues, number of transactions, size of db?
just looking for some ball park answers.
thanks, joe
