RE: Oracle ODBC On Windows95 (Don't ask) :)

Oracle ODBC drivers are fine for SQLPLUS connections through the TNSNames.ora. If the application needs to move forward and back through the data returned then we found that you needed the MS ODBC drivers.  The drivers supplied with Oracle 8.1.7 work fine connecting to both 7.3.4 and 8.1.7 databases. The client ODBC drivers were not updated when we upgraded from win95 to win98 and they access the Oracle 7.3.4 and 8.1.7 database okay.

Are you just trying to setup an ODBC conenction? In Control Panel, you should see an icon for an ODBC manager where you can add dns entries . You STILL will need to install Oracle client. Use the db alias name for the Service name in the ODBC setup. On 95, I believe that there are 2 sets of Oracle ODBC drivers, one put out by Oracle and the other by Microsoft..... funny but I remember we had to use the Microsoft drivers because we had problems with the Oracle ones.....
That's all I really remember, but feel free to get me off list for more specifics if you need them.

Anyone know what I need to do for this? Can I use the 7.3 ODBC drivers written for Windows95 for connection to a 8.1.7? I've never done this before and can't find any clear answers about it on Oracles website.
Would be immensly gratefull for an answer of any kind, even if it is a "no-can do", then I would know that I dont have to put any more effort into this :)
