Actually since you have to convince someone to purcha$e thi$ $y$tem, put
it in a chart
Incremental $$$ for extra fast CPU and less CPU's on Oracle license
vs
More cheaper (slower) CPU's and higher Oracle license fees.
Best case more fast CPU's and outrageously priced Oracle licenses.
Actually if you put either one against the last bar they both look cheap.
Reality says how much parallel query operation do you expect? If it
will be a major part of
your performance management, then go for more CPU's and get them as fast
as fiscally
possible.
No matter what you need, you won't get it because eventually some bean
counter is going
to chop off the money at some arbitrary amount that doesn't satisfy any
of the above
conditions. ;-)
