Re: forced code path?

 Thanks for you explaination of what you ment by "forced code path". I took it to mean the use of outlines to "control" the flow through Oracle.

It doesn't mean anything exciting or
exotic, I was just trying to express the idea that sometimes Oracle will execute
one piece of (internal) code because of
an init.ora parameter, hint, visible set of table statistics etc. rather than taking another path which you might typically
expect it to take.
