Darren, discuss this with your SA. There may be a limit on the os side you
need to be aware of.
Also, consider MTTR. Seems to me that MTTR won't be that different between a 500MB file and a 2GB file.
Beyond that, it's your comfort level. Personally I like having larger files for ease of administration.
