Re: anyone see my DBA_AUDIT_TRAIL ??? (solved) bug or Architecture ?

You don't say which version you are using but some versions of 8 had a problem with
desc and synonyms. Try desc sys.dba_audit_trail and see if that works.  I know this
was a problem in early 8.0 (8.03, 8.0.4) but thought it was fixed by 8i.
