Oracle-L: Difference

Hi Gurus,

What's the difference between System Commit Number, and System Change Number? I know they are not the same. I am looking to read more about them and how they are incremented viz. Commits, updates to rows, checkpoints, et all.. Any Good books, sites???? And not Oracle Docs please...
