Robert -

I had the same experience a few months back. I griped about it to the person on the other end of the line, and eventually found out that the person I was speaking with wasn't even an analyst with Oracle. Just someone taking incoming phone calls, similar to a messaging service. Apparently the only way to get a real analyst was to log a severity-1 issue.
