Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> OiD vs. OpenLDAP
So, as we are about to implement Oracle Internet Directory 3.0.1. I had
planned to use our standard method of ARCHIVELOG mode and hotbackups, but
Oracle says that it won't be valid for recovery, due to the OiD admin
treating some operations, like "ldapaddmt" as atomic (one fail = all fail).
And that recovering to a point in the middle of the ldapaddmt would be bad.
Well, duh. So, what Oracle's saying is that we need to do an ldifwrite (or ldapsearch) to backup our data. So why use Oracle at all? If you can't use Oracle's recoverability, why use it? Why not use OpenLDAP? That's what my supervisor's asking, and I can't come up with an answer.
Thoughts?
