Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Oracle to Sybase Connection Problem ....
Dear List,
I need to establish a connection from Oracle database 817 to Sybase 11, and pull the data on a regular basis. I would like to use the Generic Connectivity using ODBC (Iam not using Transparent GateWay). Does anybody know the steps for doing this?
I made entries in tnsnames.ora,listener.ora and created initHS_SID.ora etc as per the Oracle documentation. But it is not working, it comes out with error: TNS: could not resolve the service name. I talked to sybase people to tell me the "connect string" to create the DB link. They say there is no concept of "Connect String" in sybase. I am unable to proceed now.
Could someone help me in establishing a connection to Sybase(ver# 11 on IBM AIX) from Oracle(817 64-bit on HP-UX 11.0).
Thanks....Babu
