I, as someone who has butchered the language several times in my posts, can fathom
what happened. The mind is not only thinking of the irregular past tense of the verb,
"to be" , but is also thinking of the adverb , "where", in reference to Purdue. The
wrong word is typed, the message sent, and one reads one's missive in disbelief, "Did
I really write that!"
A nice little book describing common grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and such
is Richard Lederer's, "Sleeping Dogs Don't Lay". It's a fun read as well.

Ken,
please, it was a typo right? "engineering students where required"?
I automatically proofread, so short cutting words drives me nuts. I can
see limited use for it in instant messaging, but in email you have time
to read what you write, and it doesn't take THAT much longer to type
the whole word
