Naveen,

I don't believe that anyone on this list will reprimand a beginner for asking beginner questions, as long as he or she has done some homework first.

The gist of the article is that listservs are a great place to ask questions and get different viewpoints, but don't make it your first stop.

We're all real people with real jobs, trying to also have a life apart from work. If you pore over the SQL manual trying to figure out how to use SIGN and DECODE functions to emulate an IF statement in SQL and can't figure it out, and have checked via google.com for articles on the subject and didn't find any help, then ask someone here. Everyone here that can answer the question will be glad to help.

Don't stop here first though. We're not librarians, just other people that can help out when you get stuck.
