Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Oracle 9i is crash proof
Lifted from another list.
Anyone here experienced this? This would seem to indicate that 9i might be very happy with stateless protocols such as NFS.
Jared
I work with all Java developers, so I had no one to share this with, but I
was really impressed with Oracle 9i, and I hope you fellow dba's will be as
well. We have Oracle 8.1.7 and Oracle 9.0.1 on the same server. Our server
is Sun Solaris 8. The server was going through some problems, and the cpu's
were no longer connected to disk. I got "ORA-27062 WARNING: aiowait timed
out 1 times" in both alert_logs. There was a huge difference in what
happened next.
8.1.7
CKPT: terminating instance due to error 27062
Instance terminated by CKPT, pid = 2549
9.0.1
nothing...the instance kept on going until the link was up again.
I was really impressed!! 8.1.7 crashed and 9.0.1 kept on going. I hope you
are as impressed as I was. Just wanted to share the benefits of 9.0.1
