As for TOAD vs SQL*Navigator, I would certainly agree with you there. TOAD has a much better interface.
As for the tools that I would steadfastly refuse to give up, sorry, TOAD doesn't make the cut.
Tools that do make the cut:
SQL*Plus
vi or vim
korn shell
Perl
Guiness
Yukon Jack
Bombay Saphire Gin
Martini and Rossi Vermouth
Lagavulin Single Malt
Not necessarily in that order.

TOAD is the one Oracle tool I would refuse to give up. We used to use
SQL*Navigator, and I much prefer TOAD. It has a well-thought-out
interface,
and has useful features for both DBA and Developer. All of our developers
and DBAs use it.
The support from Toadman and his development group is outstanding. There
is
a very active mail list (http://www.egroups.com/list/toad) and an active
beta program open to ALL registered TOAD owners.
I can't recommend TOAD highly enough.
