Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Excessive Paging - AIX Related?
Ethan,
There is an excellent section on AIX specific tuning in Oracle Performance Tuning 101 (ISBN 007213145-4).
I ran into a similar paging problem on a client's machine and the IBM tech (who was there a day before me) had already fixed the main 'Oracle' performance problem I was coming in to tune. It was in fact just a matter of getting the right mix of minperm and maxperm in vmtune on the OS. The default values are 80/20, which stinks. Ask IBM to give you more reasonable figures and buy Gaja's (et al.) book.
Regards,
Chris Gait
