Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: SNAPSHOTS vs MATERIALIZE VIEWS
I believe you will need to CREATE OR REPLACE SNAPSHOT or drop and then recreate it.
Before dropping it, look at the view DBA_SNAPSHOTS for the contents of the snapshot. Secondly, you can, within SQL*Plus, type HELP SNAPSHOT, and get some syntactical help with the commands. Otherwise, you will need some on-line documentation.

Oracle 8.1.6.0
We're trying to recreate our snapshots. We used the syntax 'CREATE SNAPSHOT'. The snapshots won't refresh. Error message is ORA-12018.
Everyone's gone for Christmas with their office's locked (documentation inside!) and the internet connection is down. So 'R'ing TFM is out of the question.
Any ideas?
