Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Duplexing Archived Log Files
if you duplex mandatory and one server destination fails..is fixed...the time lag for the db to become aware of the now-available second mandatory location can be lengthy.
I have witnessed a test where it took 11 Minutes.
that's a loooong time, when you are waiting for the db to "figure out" that everything is fixed and available to restart....
same type of symptoms as a full archive log dest location, but longer recovery/awareness time.

Is anyone using the LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST parameter? Any problems with it?
We are on Oracle 8.1.6 on Compaq Tru64. On our ERP 150-gig. database, we are currently doing a cold backup weekly. This means that we are very dependent on archive logs.
