Francesco,
Sometime in the past 6 - odd months, I had to migrate a bunch of databases on NT (why NT :-)?? Not my decision, believe me !!!)from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7.
Set ORACLE_HOME to the new version.
Re-created the service (ORADIM).
Re-created the controlfile.
Ran u801050.sql.
We did not run into any problems.
