Okay, I've been googling for about an hour now and can't find it. It seems like I remember seeing a white paper, note, or some sort of reference detailing "preferred" file layouts based on different number of disks -- e.g. 4 disks try this, with 5 disks try that.

Does that ring a bell? And if so, can anyone send me the link? In the meantime, back to my google gun.
