Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: OEM and Intelligent Agent Compatibility Error
This is from a tar I opened with Oracle:
Kimberly,
My name is Eddie and I will be assisting you with this tar. Oracle Server
versions 8.0.5.x and earlier are officially dessupported, so no
compatibility testing was performed on them. I would expect OEM 9i to work
in the configuration that you explained, but this is not certified so
compatibility issues may be present. Oracle Server 8.1.5.x is also
desupported so it would follow the same guidlines.
Oracle Server 8.0.6.x, 8.1.6.x, 8.1.7.x and 9i are officially supported and
certified for use with version 9i OEM.
Besides the certification issues, having an Oracle Intelligent Agent
monitoring one or more seperate Oracle Homes on a server is a design feature
of the Oracle Intelligent Agent.

I am trying to autodiscover a server in the OEM console in an 8.1.7.2
database on Sun Solaris 2.6.
The databases on the other host are 8.0.4, 8.1.5, 8.1.7.2, and 9.0.1. I
am using an 9.0.1 Intelligent Agent
on the remote host where I want to monitor. When I try to autodiscover, I
get the following error:
Discovery Failed: VNI-4050: Agent is running, but version is not
compatible.
I looked this error up on Metalink and found the following compatibility
matrix. It would appear that the
8.1.7 Intelligent Agent is not compatible with 8.0.4 RDBMS. However, I am
using a 9.0.1 Intelligent Agent.
I couldn't find a similar compatibility matrix for 9i. Does anyone else
know where I can find it.
Also, is anyone successfully using a 9.0.1 Intelligent Agent against an
8.0.4 database? If you are, what
version of other components are you using? What version of RDMBS's are
you successfully monitoring?
