Oracle Support called me, I resolved the events stuck in de-registration mode.
There was a misunderstanding, they were telling me in writing that I had to shut down the agents on the nodes, and then remove the nodes.
I thought that meant I had to do it for ALL the nodes, not just the ones with the "bad" events.
Good thing they called me, sometimes person-to-person communication is better than just Web TARs.
