SAP DB (http://www.sap.com/solutions/technology/sapdb/default.htm):

very close to Oracle (there is an Oracle7 compatibility mode)
free (Open Source)
runs on Linux (Intel), Windows, AIX, Solaris, Tru64, and HP-UX
JDBC/ ODBC/ C Precompiler/ Perl/ Python/ PHP programming interfaces
shipped with SuSE Linux 7.2 (if u go for it)
