Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Oracle 7 documentation - Good One
Deepak,
My main shop is almost all 7.x. The reason is all the Oracle bases are being replaced with sqlserver and they didn't want to go through the pain for bases that won't be here much longer. They are now going to 8.1.7 with what's left because the new standards that corporate sent out said that all Oracle bases not yet migrated to sqlserver have to be upgraded. Otherwise, they'd just stick to 7.x until Oracle was gone. I know of several shops still running 7 who have no intention of upgrading any time soon.

no offense.. just a sincere question.
are people still using o7 out there? talking to oracle support regarding ECS must a be real pain in the butt as i guess they might have stopped supplying patches for o7.
in our shop people are jittery continuing on 816 as its de-supported from TODAY (officially with no ECS support .. just workarounds) and we are thinking of hopping on 817 until 9.2 or 9.3 is released and proves stable
just some thoughts... as i was pleasently surprised looking the the hits the o7 doc thread has recieved
Deepak
PS: ok now no holy war here please;
