Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: sequence pool
Why not have the sequence increment by 20 (or something to your liking) and then in the application use the number from the sequence and the 19 numbers the sequence will skip.

Hi,
is there a smart way to generate IDs in chunks?
getting an ID with nextval is perfectly ok most of the time, but sometimes the application would need to generate a pool of IDs and keep them for later use
as I can't manipulate the currval of the sequence, I wander what the best solution would be
thanx,
Marin
