Is there even such a thing as Informix any more?

According to this press release, IBM intend to merge Informix into DB2.

Hi,
Sorry to start one of "these" threads but can anyone shed some light on some of the differences between Oracle (8i) and Informix? Trying to find this info out via the web has been VERY time consuming. Are there any compelling reasons for using Informix over Oracle, or visa versa?
Thanks.
