Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> varchar2 to nvarchar2
Hi,
We need to port our data to new version of software. But the problem is some
table columns datatype has been
changed from varchar2 to nvarchar2 in new release .
We r planning to use following procedure:
1) export of database of earlier release. 2) create schema of new release. 3) import data from step1 to new release.
Since datatype is changed from varchar2 to nvarchar2..import will fail for
datatype mismatch.
What is the best procedure to port data...How to change datatype from
varchar to nvarchar as
alter table modify column gives error table should be empty to change
datatype.....
Thanks
