OK. You also have amaintenance listener which is not on ONAMES or the
user's TNSNAMES.ORA.Your DBA group keeps working without worrying about
stepping on users orhaving users lock objects. It's simplistic but it works
great if your DBAgroup is geographically

between1. shutting down a listener2. alter database
enable restricted session where only the DBAs haverestricted
session.and without a listener, the local connected people can still
connect to thedatabase, so you've only stoppped remote connections by
