PL/SQL procedure to return multiple rows

Dear DBAs !
I need to write a stored proc that will do the following :
-- open a cursor ;

• loop over the rows returned by the cursor , filter out some of the rows that do not match a certain criteria , do some processing on other rows (that match the criteria) and then return those rows (the processed data) to the calling program ( a PERL DBI script or a java program ) . Ho do U return those multiple rows to a calling program ? It's Oracle 8.0.5 , NOT 8i :-(
