Bill,
IF the alert log suddenly disappears (you delete it), Oracle will create a new one without skipping a beat.

Hi,
I had a situation yesterday where a rogue process wrote millions of error messages into the alert log. I was able to get rid of the process, then delete the error messages out. But it would have been quicker to just blow it away and create a new, empty one. I was concerned as to the effect that would have on Oracle. Would it bring Oracle down? What is the best way to handle this?
