if you mean maxsize as in 2 gig like in unix, then yes, you're ready to add a datafile, if you mean % used, then if you're not at 2G then you can resize it up(which is my preferred method before adding a datafile).
Either can be done without taking the database down.
After you've created the new datafile, oracle will use it automagically :)
