Backup strategy using RMAN

Hi all,

        I have been given an assignment to formulate different backup strategies for OLTP (24X7) and Datawarehouse applications using RMAN.

Could you please help me on these factors i have considered....

1)what type of backup should i take ?
 Incremental,cumulative or full and on what all days should i take it   (level of backup) w.r.t to these applications.

2)A backup solution for the RMAN catalog database.

3)what else needs to be considered for the same?
