I will weigh in for a one-time contribution. Thumbs-down on the complexity of managing a subscription.

Since there seems to be some concern & confusion about the value of money
(US$20) and exchange rates (with an undercurrent of the ability of all to
pay), perhaps a different yard stick is in order. Maybe 1/400th of your monthly gross pay, or 1/5th of the weekly family grocery bill? I know to a staunch capitalist (like myself), this smacks of " . . . from each according to his ability" communism. But, as no assigned value has been placed on Bruce's services, and there is no requirement to pay, I look at it as a gift/investment, not a fee-for-service transaction.
