Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Alertlog
Hello all,
Is alert log called alert<instancename>.log across all unix installs of oracle and a simlar name for all nt installs of oracle?
I am trying to write a script which will read the value of the instance name from v$instance and combined with the value from background_dump_dest will give me the alert log file in the form of :-
alert<instance_name>.log
but if the alert log is not named as starting with the "alert" word and some thing else, my script will fail?
So, are all alerts named as alert<instance_name>.log?
TIA, raja
