Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> OT: Unix - performance tuning (vmstat 5)
Hi Unix Gurus,
I submit a job to monitor the CPU utilization etc every 15 mins using the command vmstat 5.
How do I kill the submitted unix process of the batch job ?
I tried to kill the submitted process using a batch job using the following
command :
var_pid=`echo $var_grep_vmstat | (read u v w x y z; echo ${v} )`
kill $var_pid
This works if the output is
$ ps -ef | grep vmstat
orahrms 11271 11263 0 17:30:00 ? 0:00 vmstat 5 orahrms 11612 11576 0 18:50:53 pts/11 0:00 grep vmstat
If the output is as below, the program will not work
$ ps -ef | grep vmstat
orahrms 11612 11576 0 18:50:53 pts/11 0:00 grep vmstat orahrms 11271 11263 0 17:30:00 ? 0:00 vmstat 5
Please help. Thanks in advance.
Regds,
