Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: no create system tbs ?????
The actual response to this is...
What is an Oracle database and instance? What does it require?
To have a running Oracle database you need:
A pfile (init<sid>.ora) to set up the SGA At least one control file (location defined in pfile created by the create database command) At least two redo logs (defined and created in the create database command) A system tablespace (defined and created in the create databasecommand.)
By the time you have completed running your create database script you have
created all the
NECESSARY items for running an Oracle database. Granted you can't do much
with it at
this point, but it is up and running. That's why the second script has
alter tablespace
for system and create tablespace for all the others.
