Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Keeping up w/list Email
When I go through the listserv e-mails, I try to weed them right then and there, at once. Avoid processing the same thing twice, this is like in-box paper mail.
I do shift-Del on messages that I know are of no use to me. That rules out about 2/3 of the e-mails.
For the rest, I ask myself: What is the likelihood that I will need this in the next six months? If it's nearly zero percent, I do shift-Del on that too.
Then I am left with a large number of e-mails that are all important and relevant, but still I find I have no time to integrate them into Word.
For those that have to do with upgrading, I plunk them into a separate folder.
I also make the in-box assistant transfer anything to do with the OEM into yet another rmail folder.
Add to this the Developer and Designer listservs, and I really have no time.
They just pile up in my in-box.

Just spent the better part of a month clawing back through 6000 odd messages that queued up after a period away from the list. My curiosity lies w/how others handle the situation. I've always been reluctant to can the folder contents, as there's always gems hidden in there somewhere. Now I'm totally caught up and it's a bloody big relief. Gems were there too. :-) Anyone find themselves in the same boat from time to time or do you just click, shift+left mouse and delete em' all? -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com -- Author: Casey Dyke INET: cdyke_at_excitehome.com.au Fat City Network Services -- (858) 538-5051 FAX: (858) 538-5051 San Diego, California -- Public Internet access / Mailing Lists -------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: ListGuru_at_fatcity.com (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
