Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Q: Oracle 8.1.7 install on Redhat 7.1
Hi list,
I#m trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Redhat Linux 8.1.7.
First of all, I'm a newbie in Linux. So installed Redhat Linux. I have done what Oracle docs says about pre-installation tasks on Linux. I've created a user oracle, two groups oinstall, dba the mountpoints... What I haven't done is to edit kernel parameter, cause I don't know how.
After all of this, I tried to start the Oracle Installer. I'm logged on as user oracle. When I start installer, I only get a message that jre will be loaded and then nothing more happens.
Hardware:
Intel 433 Celeron, 128 MB Ram, 6 GB HDD
Environment:
Redhat Linux 7.1 Server
Swap device 400 MB
Oracle 8.1.7
I searched metalink and redhat, but I haven't found some hints.
Any help is welcome.
