We have the following situation here. On an AIX SP I need to connect
from one SP node (that just has the Oracle client) to another SP node
(that has the Oracle database). There are actually three IP addresses I
can put in the "client's" tnsnames.ora; one that uses the normal
backbone, one that uses a "highspeed switch", and one that uses the
external IP address. Normally I use the normal backbone IP address, but
sometimes that goes down, which causes a TNS error (of course).
What I am looking for is a way to list multiple ADDRESSes in tnsnames.ora and have it do the following: If the normal backbone fails, try the highspeed switch IP address. And if the highspeed switch IP address fails, us the external IP address.
I tried using ADDRESS LIST in tnsnames.ora, but if I put the normal backbone IP address first and the normal backbone is down, then it doesn't try the next one.
Any ideas?
