Well, by now you've probably gotten a lot of responses to this, but I'll stick in my $0.02 anyway.
I recommend and have used to train the jr. DBA working with me, DBA101 from Oracle press. My advice is to get it, read it, highlight it, and write notes in the margins. My copy sits next to me as I work, I still learn from it and I've been at this for a while.
