Puhleez! Who do you have to justify this to?
Based solely on the likely future of the product, Sybase can be eliminated f. Their replication server is a great product, but there is no compelling reason to buy their database.
They tout the fact that it is lightweight and fast compared to Oracle. I think they should put more emphasis on 'lightweight'.
The stored procedure language is rather primitive, especially compared to Oracle's PL/SQL and Java in the database.
Admin tools are likewise primitive. There's more, but I would have to go dig for it, as I don't remember everything I don't like about it. ;)
