NOLOGGING creates txns in redo/archive logs

I have been testing logminer and noticed that when I alter a table to NOLOGGING, txns are still recorded in the redo/archive logs. I thought NOLOGGING was NOT supposed to do this.

Anyone know if this is expected behavior?

At a recent 8i new features class, I explicitly asked the instructor this question and he stated that nologging will not cause any records to be written
to the redo/archive logs.
