Eric,

This is reminiscent of the cry 'The Mainframe is dead!'

While I'm not personally a Mainframe adherent, it is indeed far from dead.

The same is true of Oracle Forms and PL/SQL. They're a long way from dead. This has become more apparent after the dotcom fallout.

Six months ago, being a Java programmer was the best position you could be in. Today it's # 3 and falling. Just today I was speaking with one of the principles ( or principal? I dunno ) of a local consulting firm, and he mentioned that he's beginning to get requests for Forms developers.

The point being 'They have real work to do'. Imagine that. :)

I have nothing against Java and XML, I happen to like them.

But they have a ways to go yet before they're anything but bleeding edge.

Jared
